Sanjay Bhattacharya

Dr. Sanjay Bhattacharya was trained in Microbiology from JIPMER Hospital in Puducherry in 2000. He also received training in Clinical Microbiology and Clinical Virology from various NHS teaching hospitals in the UK between 2002 and 2009. He has been working as a Consultant in Microbiology at Tata Medical Center in Kolkata since 2010. His areas of interests include Antimicrobial Stewardship, Hospital Infection Control and Molecular Diagnostics of Infectious Diseases. He is the author of more than 100 papers in national and international journals along with several book chapters. He is visiting faculty in Molecular Medical Microbiology at IIT- Kharagpur. Dr. Bhattacharya has been involved in managing/ leading several research projects at the institutional level which have been funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Council of Medical Research and CDC. He has been part of the WHO working group on the Priority Pathogen List of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria for the Discovery, Research and Development of new antibiotics, Environmental Cleaning and Disinfection for the Control of Carbapenem Resistant Organisms, in-vitro-Diagnostics for AMR.
