Shairee Malhotra is Associate Fellow, Europe with ORF’s Strategic Studies Programme. Her areas of work include Indian foreign policy with a focus on EU-India relations, broader strategic developments within Europe, and European politics - both at member state and EU level.
Shairee has several years experience working in Brussels - the headquarters of the European Union, at the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS), and at the European External Action Service (EEAS) - the official foreign policy arm of the EU - where she was selected at a success rate of only 1% for non-EU nationals.
Her writings have been featured in Haaretz, Hindustan Times, EU Observer, Brussels Times, South China Morning Post, The Diplomat, South Asian Voices, The National Interest, Deccan Herald, amongst other platforms. Her views have been cited by The Independent, Forbes, Caravan, LSE South Asia Centre, Lowy Institute, Vivekananda International Foundation, Middle East Institute, Stimson Centre, Dawn, Firstpost, Wion, and other news agencies and academia. Some highlights of her career include delivering an in-depth briefing to EU officials at the EEAS preceding the 2019 Indian general election and formulating lectures on Indian foreign policy for the Belgian Navy.
Shairee was recently awarded as a Top 40 Under 40 EU-India Leader by the Europe India Centre for Business & Industry (EICBI) for shaping the growth of EU-India relations.
