G20 India 2023: Development Working Group Side Event
Data for Development: Role of G20 in Advancing the 2030 Agenda
Hosted by India’s G20 Secretariat in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Observer Research Foundation, UN Secretary-General’s Tech Envoy, and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)
On 13 December 2022, India’s G20 Secretariat, in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Observer Research Foundation (ORF), UN Secretary-General’s Tech Envoy, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), will host a side event on the theme ‘Data for Development: Role of G20 in Advancing the 2030 Agenda’.
The event is designed as a curtain-raiser for further deliberations on data for development (D4D) in the Development Working Group during India’s G20 Presidency. Attendees will include representatives of governments, intergovernmental organisations, civil society, and private companies. The event will consist of keynote addresses, two thematic plenary sessions, and two breakout sessions.
The plenary sessions are:
- Rejuvenating legacy systems: From data to public value intelligence
- Models for the future: Leveraging IoT, Big Data, and AI for the SDGs
Each plenary session will take the form of a moderated panel discussion, followed by interventions from the floor. The breakout sessions will be an opportunity for focused discussion among the participants to bring in different multistakeholder insights on:
- Role of Governments and International organizations in Data for Development
- Role of Civil Society, Academia, Philanthropic Organisations, Private Sector, and Entrepreneurs in Data for Development
